The opening pages of James Oliver Heymer's diary.

The opening pages of James Oliver Heymer’s diary.

‘Good Hope’ is my book based around a diary written by James Oliver Heymer, one of my Grandmother’s uncles, who emigrated from England to Sydney, New South Wales, on board the “Windsor Castle“ in 1885.

The journey took the “Windsor Castle“ past The Cape of Good Hope.

When  James Oliver Heymer arrived in Sydney he lived for a while on Good Hope Street in the Paddington area of the city.

“Good Hope” was published as a paperback and an ebook in 2012 by Authors Online.
